The Process

COPROSEC (PTY) LTD

ENSURING WE WIN

Systems and procedures form an integral part of our services. This ensures that our staff is accountable. Management can constantly measure client servicing.

Site profiles, instructions and specific job descriptions are compiled to ensure an organized structure and unity between our teams and clients in limiting incidences of crime.

Clients are asked to complete a Service level Questionnaire on a regular basis. This helps to point out areas of concern and potential weaknesses in the security perimeter, operation and team.

Site meetings are encouraged with Clients and recorded, Clients are encouraged to give view points and raise concerns.
Regular risk analyses are conducted with supervisory staff and by management as well.
Consistent onsite training and discipline with the security team ensures efficient and vigilant security.
The control room ensures round the clock site status reporting and monitoring.
Our supervisory staff are not encouraged to visit sites at set times but to vary there routes and times of site visits, specifically on the night shift, this ensures that no complacency can set in. Our vehicles are monitored through “Sky track” and route reports are regularly extracted for auditing to ensure patterns of security activity are not allowed to occur.

SELECTION OF GUARDS

Our employee recruitment process is carefully undertaken, when it comes to employing guards who are going to be entrusted with our client’s valuable assets, caution and care needs to be taken in selecting the right candidate’s. Our screening process differs from other security providers. Why?

• If possible we prefer not to recruit by placing adverts.

• This is because adverts have the potential to attract applicants that are mostly unsuitable.

• We believe in approaching the solution on a personal basis, inviting selected guards either identified through our direct experience with them or alternatively recommended through a network of trusted sources we have created.

• Prospective guards are invited to apply for positions in our company.

Experience shows that much of the crime perpetrated generally is the result of in-house activity, often with guards involved. It is therefore crucial to properly select and screen applicants.

SCREENING PROCESS

As a company policy “Coprosec” prefers not to place staff appointment adverts.

Whenever possible candidates are approached who have a reputation for honesty and integrity. Notwithstanding the fact that the candidate may have been invited to apply for a position, he or she is still subjected to our selection process as with any potential employee which entails that the applicant be subjected to a pre-employment.

In addition our recruitment process confirms that the applicant has;
• Pride in himself / herself and thier personal grooming
• PSIRA registered
• Have PSIRA qualifications
Potential Guards are required to consent to the company’s intensive screening process:

• Guards must be PSIRA-registered.

• Must be in possession of a legal South African ID book.

• Only South African citizens are offered employment. This is because it is much easier to obtain a history about the person and to track them after employment.

The candidate guard must provide not only his personal details but that of his/her parent’s and those of a family member together with addresses that are verified. These people are also screened to obtain a proper profile of the guard.
Through our close ties to the SAPS, Guards also undergo the standard SAPS screening process.
All our guards are required to submit their fingerprints when accepting a position with the company these fingerprints are kept on their employment file.
Our guards are matched, based on their culture and language group. It is not practical to have guards from different language

RADIOS AND CELLPHONES

On all guarding contracts, all guards are given radios to communicate to each other and the site is allocated a cell phone or cell phones which are the responsibility of the senior guard/s appointed for each shift. On larger contracts there may be more senior guards appointed or a site supervisor, each of these senior individuals is allocated a cell phone
Each of these senior guards communicates with the control room and various emergency services in the case of emergencies. Senior guards and site supervisors are regularly contacted on the cell phones by the control room throughout each shift to give a site status report which is logged in the control room Occurrence Book.

All clients are given the sites cell phone number/s to communicate with the site and when necessary report suspicious activity or to ask for assistance. In instance where community guarding is conducted clients can ask assistance from our Guards. Be it “in returning to a dark home” or “asking for an escort by a nervous resident returning home” or just the comfort of one of our security staff being present or close by for a community member who may for example think they are being followed.
